The East Kintyre Community Council area has a total population of 815 people.

Population under 25: 152 (19%) 29% for Scotland

Population 25 - 49: 168 (20%) 34% for Scotland

Population 50 - 74: 368 (45%) 29% for Scotland

Population 75 and over: 127 (16%) 8% for Scotland

Population 65 and over: 256 (31%) 17% for Scotland.

This compares to 20% in Italy, Europe’s "greyest" country, and 22% in Japan, the world’s "greyest" country.

The Kintyre and Islands electoral ward Carradale village is in the Kintyre and Islands electoral ward that returns three councillors. The southern part of the East Kintyre Community Council area (from Saddell south) is in the South Kintyre electoral ward that also returns three councillors.
